We want you to get the care you deserve.
I’m Alexandra Armitage
Hello! I’m Ali, a dual certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I love helping women become the best version of themselves to navigate life’s challenges and enjoy it. As an NP, I diagnose medical and mental health problems and prescribe medications for treatment. In addition to medication, I use mind body medicine, psychotherapy and lifestyle modification in treatment. I have broad medical knowledge of health problems with 20 years experience working in primary care, addiction medicine and urgent care. I have worked as a clinical preceptor for students at UMass Dartmouth, Regis College and Frontier University. I bring this experience to care for my patients at Oak Tree Mental Health and Wellness.

My Story
I first became interested in mental health as a young primary care nurse practitioner. I saw how diagnosing and treating mental health problems made a significant difference in people’s lives and how the effect extended to their families. Treating mental health makes a big impact in a person’s life and I enjoyed watching people become fulfilled and happy. Fast forward 12 years…After working for 5 years in an urgent care practice, I experienced my own mental health crisis as I struggled with depression, finding meaning in life and not remembering how to experience joy. I was disappointed, unsatisfied, and worried. I felt a huge responsibility for my children and felt like I had failed them and myself. This began a journey of healing and self-discovery to find hope, meaning and joy. Through meditation and mindfulness practices I gained insight into my relationships, automatic responses and habits. I gave myself permission to look after my own needs and listen to the guidance inside myself. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I expanded my knowledge of mental illness, psychiatric medications and mind body medicine. I have experienced first-hand the importance of lifestyle; taking care of your body with good nutrition, exercise, sleep and healthy relationships. I want to share this knowledge and expertise with you.
I approach psychiatry differently. I don’t see people as a collection of symptoms. I seek to know the whole person. I want to know your history, your family, your life experiences, your passions, your daily life, hormones, sleep, stress.
Your treatment will be individualized and holistic. I don’t take a one size fits all approach. In addition to medication management, I utilize mind body medicine to help clients connect with physical sensations to process stress and emotional responses. The goal is for you to have skills and insight to live a full life for years after your treatment with me is complete.
